Why did you decide to dedicate a day of sessions to DACH retailers? Why is this an important topic to explore in today’s landscape? 

The DACH payments landscape is very complex. Recent developments like the collapse of Wirecard, coupled with the opaqueness of the acquiring market, make it difficult to navigate for merchants.

Although in the region, some solutions like Girocard and ELV have been around for years now, credit card acceptance, as well as usage, has increased significantly over the last 5 years. Now, with ever-rising scheme fees and consolidation in the supplier market, many merchants are left with question marks as to how the acquiring market will evolve in the years to come – and how they should prepare to meet those changes.

Day 3 of the eSummit is the perfect opportunity to educate merchants about the nuances of the region and help them gain transparency of the market.

What are the key challenges you will address on day 3?

We want to shed light on how to mitigate risks, all while benefiting from great supplier relationships and controlling for cost.

We will be talking about real-life case studies of what the growth in card payments means to merchants in the region, how they can control for costs that come with it, and how merchants can overcome risk and ultimately change supplier, if needed, to get the best out of their arrangements.

What’s the main objective of the day?

After educating merchants about the complexities of the payments supply chain, we will give actionable insights they can take away and use in their day-to-day business operations. My objective is to help merchants build successful supplier relationships that work in their best interest, at the lowest possible cost.
