Retailer Challenges in Implementing an MIT Strategy – CMSPI Insights

Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is one of the key mandates of the second Payment Services Directive (PSD2) with the goal of making online payments more secure. The enforcement deadline set by the European Banking Authority has passed and the first round of ramp-up deadlines set by various regulators has also passed. However, regulators must not lose sight of issues faced by the payments industry in complying with SCA.

Merchant Initiated Transaction Challenges

One particular area of SCA where merchants are facing a number of challenges is in relation to Merchant Initiated Transactions. With several use cases for MITs, it is likely that most merchants will encounter these transactions in some way. This report highlights some of the challenges faced by merchants utilising MITs.
