The MPL Council Mission

Supported by CMSPI’s Merchant Payments Intelligence – driven by advanced technology operating on rich data sets including over 1 in 7 U.S. card transactions – the Council tackles the industry’s most pressing challenges. This includes fostering better cross-industry collaboration, guiding merchants through rapidly accelerating trends, and leading research into critical topics, such as:

  • Regulatory Impacts: Navigating the technical and strategic implications of emerging global regulations, including Europe’s PSD3, the US’s Credit Card Competition Act (CCCA) and others.
  • Payment Risk Frameworks: Addressing the increasing complexity and anomalies in dispute reporting and reasoning.
  • Ecosystem Collaboration: Bridging the gap between merchants, networks, PSPs, and other participants to build a healthier, more transparent, and collaborative payments supply chain.

In turn, the Council members’ frontline strategic perspectives directly inform CMSPI’s product development, creating a powerful feedback loop that helps us continuously refine our technology and deliver the actionable insights required to empower positive industry change and support the merchant cause.

The Council educates the industry and announces its aims through the release of The Payments Intelligence: Quarterly publications, the authoritative voice on priority issues and the solutions required to improve merchant payments every quarter.
